About

The Gwen L. Kosinski Foundation Benefiting Brain Tumor Research is a 501 (C) 3 non-profit organization dedicated to raising money for brain tumor research and improve the quality of care for brain tumor patients and their families.

The GLK Foundation was established in May of 2002 by the Kosinski family of Sag Harbor, New York after Gwen, wife and mother lost her two and one-half year battle with brain cancer at the age of 48. The Foundation’s Board is comprised of friends and family of the Kosinskis who believe in the importance of finding a cure for brain tumors.

The GLK Foundation and its former running team, Minds Over Matter, together have raised over $500,000 since its origination just over a decade ago through various events, including the Annual Gwen L. Kosinski Memorial Golf Tournament. Grants have been presented to major cancer centers such as the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute in Boston, Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center in New York and Cedars Mt. Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles. All of these centers are currently working on a vaccine for brain tumors. In addition, scholarships have been honored to students pursuing studies in cancer related health fields.

The Gwen L. Kosinski Foundation, Inc. has been quoted by fundraising developers at Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center as the  pioneers in brain tumor research fundraising.  The GLK Foundation believes that money is the only thing stopping a cure from being found. Therefore, through vision and perseverance the GLK Foundation intends to make a difference and find a cure so that in the future a diagnosis of a brain tumor does not automatically translate into a terminal illness.
